The Land of Nursery Rhymes

The Woman And Her Pig

I went to market and bought me a pig
But pig wouldn’t goo,
Pig has four legs I had but two:
‘Tis almost midnight, what shall I do?

I went a little further, and found me a dog.
Dog wouldn’t bite pig,
Pig wouldn’t goo:
‘Tis almost midnight, what shall I do?

I went a little further and found me a stick
Stick wouldn’t beat dog,
Dog wouldn’t bite pig,
Pig wouldn’t goo:
‘Tis almost midnight what shall I do?

I went a little further and found me a fire.
Fire wouldn’t burn stick,
Stick wouldn’t beat dog,
Dog wouldn’t bite pig,
Pig wouldn’t goo:
‘Tis almost midnight, what shall I do?

I went a little further and found me some water.
Water wouldn’t quench fire,
Fire wouldn’t burn stick,
Stick wouldn’t beat dog,
Dog wouldn’t bite pig,
Pig wouldn’t goo:
‘Tis almost midnight, what shall I do?

I went a little further and found me an ox.
Ox wouldn’t drink water,
Water wouldn’t quench fire,
Fire wouldn’t burn stick,
Stick wouldn’t beat dog,
Dog wouldn’t bite pig,
Pig wouldn’t goo:
‘Tis almost midnight, what shall I do?

I went a little further and found me a butcher.
Butcher wouldn’t kill ox,
Ox wouldn’t drink water,
Water wouldn’t quench fire,
Fire wouldn’t burn stick,
Stick wouldn’t beat dog,
Dog wouldn’t bite pig,
Pig wouldn’t goo:
‘Tis almost midnight, what shall I do?

I went a little further and found me a rope.
Rope wouldn’t hang butcher,
Butcher wouldn’t kill ox,
Ox wouldn’t drink water,
Water wouldn’t quench fire,
Fire wouldn’t burn stick,
Stick wouldn’t beat dog,
Dog wouldn’t bite pig,
Pig wouldn’t goo:
‘Tis almost midnight, what shall I do?

I went a little further and found me a rat.
Rat wouldn’t gnaw rope,
Rope wouldn’t hang butcher,
Butcher wouldn’t kill ox,
Ox wouldn’t drink water,
Water wouldn’t quench fire,
Fire wouldn’t burn stick,
Stick wouldn’t beat dog,
Dog wouldn’t bite pig,
Pig wouldn’t goo:
‘Tis almost midnight, what shall I do?

I went a little further and found me a cat.
Cat said "Say PLEASE!"
So then –
The cat began to kill the rat,
The rat began to gnaw the rope,
The rope began to hang the butcher,
The butcher began to kill the ox,
The ox began to drink the water,
The water began to quench the fire,
The fire began to burn the stick,
The stick began to beat the dog,
The dog began to bite the pig,
The pig began to goo:
So it’s all over now and I’m happy.
